My story is a simple one. As a caregiver for almost fifty years, I attribute my expertise from what I learned from those I was called to serve. I am a survivor of compassion fatigue which manifested itself in burnout. I have learned compassion resilience because of my commitment to self care. I learned the difference between doing sacred and godly work versus an arrogance that I have no limitations. I learned that I am a wounded healer. I learned that embracing my own personal suffering has given me the opportunity in welcoming the suffering of others. During this time I have successfully coached physicians, nurses, healthcare professionals, supervisors, managers, directors, and executive leaders in mission and value formation, ethics and crisis intervention, change management, and leadership development. Given the 24/7 a demand that healthcare requires, maintaining a work/life balance, proper self-care, and integrating one’s values and interior strengths into one’s work are essential skills of a successful leader. As a wounded healer, space is created, and insight and wisdom are gleaned from my experience with those whom I coach. My years of experience in healthcare have positioned me to understand the personal journeys of clients and caregivers.
